Telemedicine

Dear Patient,

We know that life has changed dramatically over the past several weeks as COVID-19 precautions have become a part of everyday life across Florida and the world. We here at Toppino Eye Care wanted to reach out and let you know we are still here and remain available for your eye care needs.

Office Visits

The COVID-19 situation continues to evolve every day. We know that many of you are now under shelter-in-place orders in your regions. Please note that you can still seek medical care as needed. Our practice is reopened (as of March 30, 2020 ) for urgent and emergent care for our patients. Our optical department will remain closed at this time for trying on, and fitting new frames. We WILL be dispensing previously ordered eyewear that has arrived, however we will unfortunately not be able to make the usual frame adjustments. We May be able to handle some repairs depending on the situation. 

Telemedicine

We are pleased to announce that we have begun offering telehealth services. You can now call your provider’s office to set up a telehealth visit with your Toppino Eye Care provider via FaceTime, Zoom, or WhatsApp. The process is easy and allows your provider to come to you in the comfort of your own home.

COVID-19 Screening and measures

We are also asking patients who have, OR have been exposed to, cold, fever and cough symptoms to identify yourself when calling, BEFORE you come into the office. If you suspect you have COVID-19, please contact your primary physician or local health department. 

We have of course instituted aggressive cleaning measures and are practicing social distancing in the office. We are working to minimize your physical time in the office. In this effort you will be checked in remotely, just text or call to 352-243-8704 ( texting is most efficient ). When a technician is ready they will call you on the phone to take your medical history and detailed reason for office visit. After this you be brought into the office for the physical exam. 

If you need to speak with your provider

If we have called to postpone your routine eye exam or another nonurgent visit and you feel you have a problem that cannot wait, please let us know. Depending on your concern, we will determine if you need to come into the office or if a telehealth visit is appropriate.

Visitors/Guests

We have revised our visitor policy consistent with CDC recommendations for social distancing. If you have an appointment at one our office, we ask that you please come alone. If someone must accompany you, we are allowing only one person aged 18 or older. All patients and visitors will be asked to complete our screening questionnaire, which will be performed curbside or immediately upon arrival to the office in order to promote social distancing and decrease the spread of the virus. Note that our office may have added temperature checks on arrival as well.
